Creating a Christmas Thankful Tree

Christmas Thankful Tree

Christmas Thankful Tree

One of my favorite Christmas specials growing up was Charlie Brown, and that precious little tree reminds me every year that it really doesn’t matter what’s under the tree; it’s what/who is around the tree that counts. When I became a mom, I knew I wanted to teach my children this and so each year, we go outside and find a “Charlie Brown tree.” A small pine branch is perfect for this craft. We think about everything and everyone we are thankful for and make homemade ornaments that represent those things and people. We use only materials we already have on hand. We never spend extra money on this craft. Part of the lesson here is that you don’t have to spend money to create something meaningful and beautiful.
Our youngest daughter decided to share this craft with her class this year. Her tree is still a work in progress, but I thought I would share a few photos.
Merry Christmas! And thank you, Charlie Brown for teaching me a wonderful message that has stayed with me all these years.
